Goichi Hirata Statement

One of the most unique quality human being possess is “creativity”.

It is the very thing that distinguish man from beasts in the wild. The ability and passion to create something out of nothing with clear conscience and purpose.

When God created man in His own image and likeness, and breathed the breath of life into him, He gave man His characteristics and attributes, such as ability to love, to venture into unknown, and to search for secrets and mysteries. The one of these attributes is creativity. God gave man the passionate nature of desire to create and express something good, beautiful and glorious.

My desire is to use the gift of painting God gave me to create and express these good, beautiful and glorious things God is pouring out into this world; the truth of God.

The true spiritual creativity is inspired by God's Spirit which always carries His truth. Jesus Christ presented and expressed these truth of God (he called it “the kingdom of God”) to people in form of many parables, as we can read them in the Bible.

Many of my paintings have some Christian allegorical meanings and symbolisms. Some are obvious and some are not so obvious. I would not usually give much explanations about these in my paintings with words. I believe that God speaks to people through my paintings; and I wish He does and people can hear Him.

If I give explanations from the beginning, it may hider people to have a chance to hear from God through my paintings; because of the pre conceived ideas of mine. It is just like when you read a story in a book describing “the most beautiful woman in the world” and you imagine in your head “the most beautiful woman in the world”; then you watch a movie of the story and it shows the film production version of “the most beautiful woman in the world”. “The most beautiful woman in the world” in your imagination does not exist any more but only the film version.
